1

Pain Point

The Hall of the Arts is an art museum that needs to attract more visitors and make it easy to schedule visits online.

My User Research;

The most common issue I found across the users I interviewed were the lack of variety in what art museums had to offer for viewing. What surprised me most was that people seemed to want different types of media/art displayed and exhibits showcasing those and ways that they could find out about these events when they happen.

For some, they enjoy being able to plan trips that include museums, and an ability to be able to see the museum schedule was important as is the ease of scheduling such visits.

User Pain Points

2

Pain Point

Lack of information and notification regarding up and coming exhibits and events based off of their interests.

3

Pain Point

Users have difficulties accessing and finding information regarding events they have or want to attend.

4

Pain Point

Faces challenges with scheduling visits and tours in advance with current events.

Solutions:

Making a website and a responsive app for the Hall of the Arts was to create a connection between potential visitors and those that chose it as a place they regularly visited. The idea is to make the museum more visible and be able to make updates for people to be able to see what events are coming up. Also making it easy for visitors to book their visits online both through a website and an app were priority.

The Hall of the Arts Website

It took a few different iterations to reach the final product, with my user research resulting in a few additional pain points. I had to ensure that being able to book a visit wasn’t hidden or hard to find. The first iteration had the search bar a little too large as well so it had become distracting in drawing the eye. Users also wished to have an easier time finding the visiting protocols. All of these were taken into account for this final product.

    • Users struggled to find ways to get to the ticketing system to book a visit.

    • The search bar was too distracting.

    • Users wanted to have the visiting protocols and rules easier to find.

    • Made the ticket section easier to find and accessible from multiple different user journeys.

    • Made the search bar smaller and draw less attention.

    • Ensured that the visiting protocol was an option to find before booking a ticket as well as making sure it was there after for easy review.

The Hall of the Arts App

I took the principles I had designed in the website version and transferred them into the mobile app design.
